   The locality, Great Miami River. Continuous lines of pavements, or rows of burned stone, forty or fifty yards long, on the banks of the Ohio River, twenty inches to five feet, below the top of the bank. The pavements, called macadamized roads, have been noticed on the banks of the Allegheny River. These are probably the fire beds. Has any one evidence to the contrary? A prehistoric canal, connecting two rivers in Illinois; also, several pieces of masonry, exposed in a sand bank after a storm and covered up again.
